Our Junior team finished mid-table in the Munster Junior League. Galway-Foley Cup Final – Sunday, 19th December 1999– Match Report

The 1998/1999 Galway Foley Cup Final was actually played in Tralee on Sunday, 19th December 1999. Newcastle West forwards slowly got the better of the Dingle pack with Sam Lane, Michael McEnery, Jason Kelly, Liam O’Connor, Rob Moone and Conor Fitzgerald to the fore and backs defending well.

Jason Kelly scored the first try, following a great drive by the forwards. Johnny Fitzgerald showed great speed of thought and feet to score the second try midway through the half and Rob Moone made the score 15 – 0 with a try just before half time. Rob Moone scored another try after the ball was passed between backs and forwards. Conor Fitzgerald, showing pace and power scored a great try when he brushed off three would be tackles to touch down for a great individual score. Padraig Harnett scored the final try. Captain Liam O’Connor accepted the cup on behalf of the team amid scenes of jubilation.
