Scene Set

Two side’s place high in ourTop 20 provincial league clubs for November clash as third ranked Newcastle West host second ranked Dundalk in a fascinating match up. The Limerick club are playing only their second ever All Ireland Cup game having overwhelmed OLBC in round one.

The hosts lost for the first time this season last weekend in the Munster Junior Challenge Cup as Cobh Pirates caught them off guard with a fine display. Dundalk come into the game unbeaten and off the back of a particularly impressive win over Coolmine last week. This is one of our two feature games on twitter on Saturday.

Verdict

Even thought it will be tight and acknowledging the fact that we are talking about the unbeaten league leaders in Leinster here, we’re going for a home win. Newcastle West are not a flash in the pan, they are a Munster side that have been building steadily for four or five years towards a big breakthrough and a game like this is a major moment in their development.

That reality could spur them to a win that won’t come easy and might only be by a single last minute score. On their day, at full pelt, Dundalk would be slight favourites but they might not reach full throttle this weekend and Newcastle West more than likely will.
