Half-time Huddle

An error ridden performance but a win is how last Sunday’s game in Cullinagh panned out. All roads will lead to Clonmel on January 4th as both teams will go into this top of the table clash with thirty two points each and locked together.

Cobh were first to score after five minutes with a converted try.The home side were been given plenty by a will disciplined Cobh pack who contested the line out and won a number of our throw ins,the home side seemed to lack that usual killer instinct and seemed to be going through the paces in the first half. Some unusual decisions by the referee was not helping their composure.

It was to be on the stroke of half-time when our Captin Sean Herlihy dive over for a try after great work from the pack allowed him a gap and over he went, the conversion was missed and the half time score was 5-7

The second half was a tense affair with error after error being made ,The pack were now dominating the scrum and the referee was giving the penalties that were richly deserved. In the seventieth minute the home side were awarded a penalty and Sean converted from the halfway line to leave one point between the teams .The final nail in Cobhs coffin came when the home side were awarded a penalty five yards out but opted for a scrum which the forwards drove towards the line, Sean Herlihy was fed by John Sheehan and again Sean got over the line for a great try. The conversion was missed but we held out for another great league win.

As said above all roads will lead to Clonmel, but before that we have the Transfield Cup final on 21 December. The team have a well earned break next weekend and im sure all know what is required to achieve the next step.

Man of the match goes to Sean Herlihy closely followed by Dave Foley and TJ Relihan.
